May 21st – One Mile Time Trial

Interval training

Your one mile time trial is going to act as your benchmark in order to track your running progress. As you train throughout the spring and summer, we will conduct these now and again. It is a time to check in and see how much progress you make as you go.

The session will begin with your one mile easy warm up, followed by some dynamic warmups. You can find video demonstrations of these here

Next, another nice easy one mile jog. Rest for 60 seconds and then begin your time trial. Run as fast as you can for exactly one mile and make note of your time in your training log.

Cool down with another easy one mile job. Good luck and it would be great if you posted your results here!

Any questions, fire me off an email using the contact form. I read and answer all emails.

COACHING TIP: This is an entirely personal benchmark. You are not competing with anyone but yourself and who you were yesterday. If this is your first one mile time trial, it will also guide you going forward as to pace. Stay tall, relaxed and focussed. It’s one mile; you can do this. Run hard and enjoy the result.
