November 14th – Steady Run

The Long Slow Distance Run

Today’s Steady Run is for all abilities. On this run, you will look to cover anywhere between 3 and 8 miles. A steady state run is another key run for all runners who are in training. This run should be “comfortably hard”. Not quite conversation pace like an easy run, but not quite a struggle either. Aim for 5k pace + 30 seconds – 60 seconds per mile.

COACHING TIP: Much like your easy runs, a steady run is a good time to work on form and technique. Today, continue to take mental note of your posture while you run. Check in now and again and ensure your shoulders are relaxed and not tensed up near your ears. Ensure you are running tall and not hunched over. Work on form every day and it will become second nature.
